Bay Vs Margate

Herne Bay U14 travelled to Margate for there latest league match. Bay started the first half attacking into a breezy wind but a flowing move within the first minute saw Devon Mason beat the defender of the right hand side of the pitch. He then played a pass that into the box that Kevin De Bruyne would have been proud of as it beat the Margate back 4 and the goalkeeper for James Williams slot in at the far post.

Bay huffed and puffed but never really got going in the first half with Margate equalising midway through the half. Bay played the better football trying to move the ball quickly but struggled with the wind but never felt that Margate would score again in the first half.

As the 2nd second half started Bay felt that if they moved the ball better then Margate would struggle to keep up with them and when a flowing move resulted in another great ball in from Devon Mason found Alfie Wood finish well with a diving header for a 1-2 lead. The lead didn’t last for long as Bay struggled to find so constancy in their play with Margate hitting a equaliser. Margate had a couple of efforts but either found an inform Jacob Webb in goal or failed to find the target. Once again Bay found some width in the play and when Woody Ebrill broke down the right hand side and played a great ball for Devon Mason in the box he slide and help it across the goal for Joseph Crowley to slot it home.

Margate had a chance in the dying seconds of the game when Jacob Webb pulled of one of his much expected saves and with the referee blowing for full-time seconds later Bay had earned the 8th win out of 8 games.

For the 2nd week in a row now the Bay had not played to their full potential but had done enough to beat an opposition that had raised there game. Bay host Sittingbourne in their next fixture and look to add to their points tally for the season.
