Pacey left-back Raphe Brown has agreed to rejoin Herne Bay for the 2020/2021 season. Raphe brings with him a wealth of experience having spent 2 years at the Bay during the 17/18 and 18/19 season. He spent the 19/20 season at North Kent outfit VCD Athletic where he bagged 2 goals and played over 30 games in both league and cup competitions. In his previous spell at the Bay Brown managed to make 65 appearances with 9 of them coming off the bench.
Raphe had this to say on rejoining the Bay: 'I'm happy to back at Herne Bay it's a great club with a very strong fan base! I look forward to returning and excited for Ben's objectives of where we want to be this season.'
First team manager Ben Smith had this to say on securing his first summer signing: 'We missed out on Raphe a year ago as he had a left the club during the interim period before we came in, so it's great to finally get the opportunity to work with him. I honestly think you'd be hard pushed to name better full-backs at this level than what we now have at the club so it adds fantastic balance to the side. I've said many times that it would take time to build a squad that we want and we certainly grew throughout last season with the additions we made and this one definitely gets us much closer to where we aim to be. I think the fact that Raphe has come back to the club shows you how far we have come in such a short space and I know we have a player that is hungry to achieve and enhance his already high status with the club's supporters.
Assistant manager Ben Brown also had this to say on our latest recruit: ' Delighted to bring Raphe back to Herne Bay FC, he is arguably one of the best Left Back's at this level. His athleticism and natural pace set him apart from most. When we played VCD at their place last season he was outstanding. Raphe will be a key member of our squad for the coming season. Welcome back Raphe!
Raphe also sat down with HBFC-TV for an interview which will be released over the weekend.
