Herne Bay FC receive funding boost

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), supporters of the Football Foundation, and the largest funder of non-league football in the country, today announced a grant of £40,000 to Herne Bay FC, with an additional £15,000 awarded by Viridor Credits Environmental Company.

The funding will enable the club to resurface their car park, which will improve stadium infrastructure and the match day experience for the clubs fans.

Funded with £6m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Viridor Credits Environmental Company, through the Landfill Communities Fund, provides grants for a variety of projects that are located within 10 miles of an active Viridor landfill site. In addition to the current funding for the car park, they had previously provided funding to allow the club to install ball-stop netting.

Ron Boddy, Director and Commercial Manager of Herne Bay FC, said: “The grants that we have received from The Football Stadia Improvement Fund, and from Viridor Credits Environmental Company, have been vital in the improvement of the facilities at Winch’s Field. Without their valued support these improvements would not be possible and everyone linked to the club is very grateful to them.”

Peter McCormick, FSIF Chairman, said: “I am delighted to be able to award Herne Bay FC this grant to resurface their car park. FSIF staff work hard to make sure that the funding that is generously provided by the Premier League each year goes as far as possible and benefits as many clubs and supporters as it possibly can.”
