Furthermore, they are both existing teams who have chosen to join HBFC and bring with them success (they won league and cup double in the 20/21 season) as well as some former Bay players who will be familiar to many supporters. First and foremost Jack Delo, who has over 400 caps for Herne Bay, was part of a midfield that also features former Herne Bay players Joe Kennett, Simon Brown, Dave Soutan and Clive Stace. The back line boasts Nathan Eastwood, John Atkinson, Owain Williams, Donnie Zacharia and Aaron Burrett and up front fans will remember Mark Lovell, Mike Groom and Stacy Davis.
The chairman Stuart Fitchie said "we are really pleased to be getting involved in Vets football which, along with women's football, is one of the fastest growing categories in the game. And to be able to welcome back so many former Herne Bay players is just wonderful. We are looking forward to a successful debut season with both of our new Vets teams and hoping that now we have formally launched more of our former players will be joining us"
The Vets category at HBFC will be run by Mark Kidd who said "our tie up with Herne Bay Football Club is a really exciting next step in the evolution of the team and one that makes sense on every level, especially since we already had so many ex Herne Bay players in the side. We're thrilled to be working with Stuart and be a part of the changes that he is bringing to HBFC . I am looking forward to the many seasons ahead as he continues to redevelop this fantastic club"
HBFC will also be launching a new over 45s side in September.
