Firstly, the Directors would like to thank all those members of the CIC who attended Tuesday evening’s meeting at the Winch’s Field Clubhouse. It was a very positive meeting and the Directors are encouraged by the faith shown in them to continue in post and work with club members to improve the club. Secondly, as Secretary, I was delighted to be able to tell club members that the financial position of the football club has greatly improved and, contrary to rumours elsewhere, will NOT be going into administration .
This is good news as neither the Directors nor club members would wish the club to end its long tradition of football in the town. The number of positive suggestions for taking the club into the future in a constructive and positive way was encouraging and there are many suggestions put forward that can be worked on and, we trust, brought to successful fruition. It is proposed to increase the number of Directors to expand the skill base at Board level and to invite additional members onto the committee to develop a variety of areas.
On the playing side, we are optimistic about the future as well, having recently appointed a new first team manager, an exciting link with youth football and a successful Ladies section that will, for next season, also have a reserve team competing.
These are exciting times as we take the football club into the future with fresh engagement with supporters, local business and the local community. We can now look forward with anticipation to the coming 2019/20 season.
